MARIA WESTON CHAPMAN MIDDLE SCHOOL ADDITION & RENOVATION
The Town of Weymouth, as Awarding Authority, invites sealed bids for the Maria Weston Chapman Middle School Renovation and Addition Project located at 1051 Commercial Street, Weymouth, Massachusetts (the “Project”). Only Pre-qualified Trade-bidders (for the trades listed herein below) are eligible to submit bids. Bids shall be in accordance with Contract Documents, dated August 11, 2020 and prepared by HMFH Architects Inc., 130 Bishop Allen Dr. Cambridge, Massachusetts.
The Maria Weston Chapman Middle School is a renovation and addition project consisting of 252,000 sf, including 32,000 sf of renovation. The major additions include three new two-story Classroom Wings, a new Cafeteria, and a new Auditorium. The existing building to be renovated is the Gymnasium which will have all new building systems.
Bid procedures and award of Contract and Subcontracts are subject to the provisions of Massachusetts General Laws (MGL), Chapter 149A, §44A to §44J inclusive; applicable sections of MGL Chapter 30 and the regulations established by the Commissioner of the Massachusetts Division of Capital Asset Management and Maintenance (DCAMM).
The estimated construction cost is $128,585,641

A pre-bid conference will be held virtually on August 24, 2020 at 3:00 PM local time. All potential bidders are strongly encouraged to attend.

There is a plan deposit of $750.00 per set (maximum of 2 sets) payable to “Town of Weymouth.” Deposits must be a certified or cashier’s check. This deposit will be refunded for up to two (2) sets for trade-bidders upon return of the sets in good condition within thirty days of trade bids opening. Otherwise the deposit shall be the property of the Awarding Authority. Additional sets may be purchased for $750.00.
Bidders requesting Contract Documents to be mailed to them shall include a separate check for $125.00 per set for UPS Ground, payable to “Andrew T. Johnson” to cover mail handling costs.
